"Come for the road rather than the park — the run out to Chanthaburi is one of the best rides in this part of Thailand and the surface is smooth the whole way. The waterfalls are thin outside the wet season and several of the upper trails are closed, so don't build the day around them. Buy food before the gate, because nothing is sold inside."

Khao Khitchakut National Park covers around 58 square kilometres of verdant forest in Chanthaburi province, east of Pattaya, with herbal plants and wildlife throughout. Its summit holds Khitchakut Temple, where pilgrims gather between February and April to worship the giant rocks bearing what is revered as the Buddha's footprint. Lower down there are waterfalls, walking trails and a lakeside campsite, and the smooth roads in make the approach a favourite with motorcyclists.
